| In addition to other school work and homework, your child is expected to read every night. This may be the current novel they are reading for a class, a book in which they are interested, magazines, newspapers, or the like. Textbook assignments are not considered extra reading. Underlying all the methods for teaching reading is the amount of time actually spent reading. Like most things in life where skills improve with practice, competency in reading increases in direct relation to how much a person reads. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

My goal is to provide an integrated program at the students' performance level that will address their individual needs and learning styles. This will eliminate much of the stress and frustration that students so often face and will give them the opportunity to focus their attention on strengthening and enhancing their reading and writing skills. The classes will cover all the requirements for District 220's curriculum. The difference is the emphasis on literacy skills.
